Starting the C&O. Crossing the Cumberland Gap we got on the Chesapeake and Ohio Canal Towpath. Built for barge traffic in the 1860's it is perfect for biking. No hills at all as we pass the rest of the Appalachain chain. One note, for mud you want wider tires than we had, unless you get perfect weather like we did.
