- Beware Iowa's unpaved shoulders. Must be a law that says unpaved shoulders must start right at the white lines. It force bicycles into traffic. Now that the network of more or less parrallel farm roads were available, we used them as much as possible to avoid cars.
- SE 982 to D54. E D54 to K64. S K64 to 982. (to avoid construction.)
- E 982 at Holly Springs to Smithland.
- E 141 through Mapleton, Ute, and Charter Oak to Denison.
- S on 59/141, till 141 breaks E to Manning.
- We stayed with some good people we met.
