Today we were besieged by dogs. The black one in the picture was funny. The little grey one wasn't. Just as a car drove by, not giving us any room, a grey dogged attacked. Cyclists have several methods of dealing with dogs. Some carry pepper spray. Some sprint. A buddy of mine charges the dog barking. Carrying this much weight the best I could do was command the dog to stop in a big deep voice. If that doesn't work I stop and dismount away from the dog. Patti sprints. She couldn't sprint by me because of the car. We ended up coliding. We were shaken but not hurt.

We rode by what looked like a haunted, burnt out church. Downtown Portland was torn up for road work. We ended up at the Hoosier Inn watching HBO. Neither of us felt like camping. Three nights in Marriots spoiled us.
