We started the day with laundry and a visit to the bike shop. It was right across the street from the hotel. The guys at the shop explained that my spokes were fatiguing and that I'ld need to replace them all. I bought fifteen spokes to lace up when the next one broke.
We road downtown, stopping to check out the Gus Macker 3 on 3 basketball tournament. The streets were closed to traffic. The streets were packed with basketball hoops and people. It was a great day for it, very sunny.
In E Peoria we found route 150. We stopped at a CVS to buy coca colas. The CVS happened to be at the start of yet another rail trail. This one was even paved. It headed right out of town towards Bloomington. We made reservations at the Marriot. We booked out of town via the trail. We wouldn't have to fight traffic at all!
The rail trail got us all the way to Morton. Birthplace of most of America's pumpkin pies. As evidenced by the Pumpkin fields and the Libby's Pumpkin Pie Factory.
We ate dinner at "Damon's" a great steak joint next to the Marriot. Patti had a whole chicken. I had a 48oz Prime Rib, three loaves of bread, salad, and 48 oz of beer with my iced tea. It's good to burn 6000 calories every day.
