August 02 south of Boone, IA to Liscomb, IA Day's Map Day's Journal Pic 0 Previous Journal Next Journal

These days we always had some kind of headwind. Sometimes it was sunny, somedays like today it drizzled rain intermittantly. We ate at the HyVee grocery. A farmwoman recommended it to us. Big store with a giant buffet. We went to town on it. We chatted with four cyclists, on their day ride, who also took part in the buffet.

After lunch we toured the Iowa State Campus. Today it was being overrun by a boy scout convention. I was really surprised by how old the college was. My Dad came hear nearly fifty years ago. There was a memorial on the common, from the class of 1889 to the class of 1847. Unfortunately no one was in at my Dad and Uncle's frat house, Phi Kappa Theta. I wanted to check out the "hole". I'ld heard some interesting stories about it.

We turned out of town in the light drizzle and headed to Liscomb. We camped in the city park after a dinner of Red Baron Pizza with home made sandwhiches in the local bar.
