Today the wide shoulder of 20 ended, and traffic picked up. Patti got her first flat here. A bad one too. I had to tape up the inside of her tire to protect the new tube. The ride wasn't any more trouble until Sioux City. We had another free night at the Marriot there. Route 20's bridge over the Missouri River into Iowa is closed to cyclists. It's a shame. Our hotel, and hot tub, were only a half mile beyond the bridge. We had to detour downtown. It added seven or eight trafficked and hilly miles to the end of our day. I busted my first spoke in the city.
