The day was much flatter than the day before. With only one substantial climb near the end of the day. We left 47 and got on to Scappoose-Veronia Rd which cuts toward Portland. Patti's legs were hurting so we went really slowly all day. The weather continued to be great. Sunny, but not hot.
We stopped at the Birkenfield country store and had a good lunch. I bought one postcard of the store, to mail back to my friends from work. Patti then promptly stole it to add to her collection. I've chided her about it ever since. We also got $0.11 worth of gasoline for my stove.
We passed a nice park before the big hill. But decided to push on through to Scappoose so that we could have an easy day into Portland. At the RV park we met an older couple who were on a short tour themselves. We talked about equipment a little bit. They were very impressed by Patti's fortitude.
