The heat wave continued. It got up to one hundred and five degrees today. At that time we were in Broadus.

We had been seeing these "Best food for 3000 miles" signs for several days now. In town we finally got to try it out. "The Judge's Chambers" restaurant was indeed pretty darned good. Oddly enough our food was served by a Swedish exchange student. I still wonder why she chose Broadus, MT of all places to stay in?

After lunch, while the temperature soared, we hopped in the public pool. We shared the day, splashing in the pool, with every little kid from within two hundred miles.

After the heat subsided a bit, we pedalled on. We didn't really know where we were gonna sleep. We ended up sleeping in a private rest stop in Boyes. A town of little more than a post office - which was closed. I shared my corned beef and potato pie with a stray cat. Patti was, again, not amused. I was determined to make friends with every stray animal we found along the way. Patti wasn't.
