I felt a lot better today so we decided to get moving. I still felt a little weak but not bad enough to stay another day. We headed out of town, checking out the historic old houses first. The countryside was really dry here. In these areas, on a bike, you can't wait for the next town. It's the only area that will be really green. You equate civilization with water and cool.
In Hardin we met some really great guys. Three Crow, buddies, Ira, Stan and Chico. Chico was a riot. He had played a crazy one eyed indian in some western once. Not a far stretch for this guy. He told us the story of how Elvis came to town and sang at a pow wow. His impression of elvis singing a Crow chant was hilarious. Funny guy. He also told me how to tell how many hours to sunset. "You hold up your fist, and however many fists fit from the earth to the sun is the number of hours. Same thing works for the moon. You turn around, and WHAT THE HELL IS THAT THING!" I had a great time talking to these dudes while Patti napped.
On the way through the Crow Reservation we saw our first buffalo. Just passed Crow Agency we stopped at a store/RV campsite. We camped and ate buffalo steak, and really tasty indian bread for dinner. A stray dog camped with us after I gave it some ice cream. Patti was not amused.
