In the morning the RV Park managers invited us in for breakfast. We ate waffles, eggs, cherries and coffee. Gloria sent us off with a bag of fresh cherries. Thanks!
This day would be easy. There was a Marriot in Kennewick, and my hotel credit would give us a free stay. We could look forward to a short ride, followed by showers, hot tubs, clean clothes and a free breakfast!
To make it even better, we planned to hit wineries as we went. We only got to one, Blackwood Canyon. The gravel road into the winery was pretty tricky, but nothing like McAbee. We were pros by now on our loaded bikes. We pulled in to the winery just as it opened. Already waiting in the lot were a BMW, a Porsche, and a Saab. Our tour was excellent, Mike Moore, the vintner took us all on a three hour tour. We tasted nearly twenty wines and vinegars, each served with fancy cheeses. Some of the wines were poured directly from the cask. We learned about en lise fermenting, and that wines should be made by understanding the grape, not controlling it. The Chardonnay was amazing. I don't even normally like white wines. The only pitfall here is the family dog. It walked up to Patti in the parking lot and calmly peed on her leg.
We bought a bottle and some cheese and headed off in the afternoon towards our hot tub. The sage brush, and even sage colored trees were everywhere along the way. The short sixteen mile ride along Kennedy Rd. was a breeze.
