Do the ends justify the means?

From Moreover - Law News, from IOL: As a citizen of the United States, I do not believe that the ends justify the means, and am appalled at the implications of this story, if indeed it is true. Defense Secretary Rumsfeld and his superior must answer for much. I am sickened.

Where are the checks and balances?

In Utah, the Legislature sees itself as the most equal of the three branches; in Washington, apparently we have a more imperial view–the executive is the most equal.
